About Me, Steve Toms:
I have been working as a builder for the past 20 years; my father was a builder and this gave me my first introduction into the trade. After years of helping out on building sites in Hertfordshire, I studied carpentry and got my degree. I have a real interest in period restorations and have worked for
The Spitalfields Trust, part of the English
Heritage.
Through these organisations I was part of the team overseeing the restoration of Georgian houses of historic value in Central London. I also restored a Georgian antiquarian bookstore to its former glory. It can be found on Great Russell Street, opposite the British Library.
Sport has also played a big part in my life. I had a short spell at Sheffield United and played semi-pro for 12 years around North London.
